Re-use
So many plastic film products are simply impossible to re-use because they have been contaminated doing their first job – protecting food. For example, it would be a health risk to attempt to re-use plastic film wrappings from meat, fish, cleaning products or soaps and detergents. However, Government surveys show there is a very high frequency of re-use for plastic films where this makes sense. For example 80% of households re-use their plastic carrier bags for everything from pet waste disposal to bin liners and waterproof containers for gym kit and school lunches.
